2001 Ski Trips

Perfect North, 7 January 2001 (Sunday)

Big Mountain, 24-28 January 2001 (Wednesday-Sunday), $695
    Find out for yourselves why skiers from all over the country are heading to Big Mountain in Whitefish, Montana!  With the spectacular scenery of Glacier National Park as a backdrop, this resort offers a brand of excitement all its own.  From long, meandering groomed slopes to deep open bowls and plunging, powder filled chutes, the vast variety of terrain beckons skiers of every ability.  Big Mountain has an average annual snowfall of 330 inches and encompasses over 4,000 acres.  The base elevation is 4,500 feet and the summit elevation is 7,000 feet with a vertical drop of 2,500 feet.
    We will be staying at the Eidelweiss Condos at the base of the mountain, just steps away from the slopes.  The condos offer 2 bedrooms/2 baths and will house 4 per unit.  For more information or to get your name on a tentative trip list call Debbie at 743-2506 or dkjonaas@yahoo.com.

Traverse City, Michigan, 9-11 February (Friday-Sunday)

Steamboat, 13-18 March 2001 (Tuesday-Sunday), $790
    Steamboat averages more than 335 in. of fresh Champaign Powder every year.  With 140 different trails spread over nearly 3,000 skiable acres, it's the 2nd largest mountain in Colorado.   Base elevation is 6,900 feet and the summit is at 10,568 feet with a 3,668 vertical drop.  There's much more to the mountain than sheer size.  five peaks filled with bumps, groomed cruisers, steeps, deeps, tight chutes, and open meadows await you.  There's something for everyone!!  Steamboat Springs is a classic ski town.  This western community welcomes you with a diverse mix of activities to complete your vacation.
    For 5 nights we stay at the Rockies.  These great 2 bedroom/2 bath (4 per unit) condos features an outdoor heated pool, two outdoor hot tubs, new massage room on-site, and a free shuttle to the ski slopes, grocery, and nightlife.  Cross country ski out your door or enjoy panoramic views of the valley.
