Wednesday, September 4: Here at last … Our 2020 kickoff party will take place at 7:00 PM at Sgt. Preston’s of the North in Lafayette. After considering fine offers from several resorts, the LSSC will be taking its January trip to Whitefish, Montana during the first full week of January. Specific details of the trip—e.g. dates, cost, lodging, transportation--will be revealed at the meeting. Annual dues signup will take place as well. If you are interested in participating, please bring your checkbook and a pen.
Saturday, September 21: The last weekend of summer (yes, technically it is summer) will be the time of our annual trip to Exploration Acres corn maze south of Lafayette. As usual, we will have a campfire pit reserved from 5:00-11:00 PM. Bring lawn chairs, your own beverage(s), snacks, and anything you’d like to cook over the fire. For those of you attempting the corn maze, bring a sense of both adventure and humility, too. For more details, go to www.explorationacres.com

Weekend ski trip opportunity for Feb. 7-9: The LSSC board recently received a message. Here is an excerpt from it from Bill Leavitt, the President of the Indiana Ski Council.
“We have had many Indiana Ski Council State Races club racing trips over the past at least 40 years. However, in recent years participation and interest has lagged and two years ago we had to cancel our annual racing trip (when deposits from participants were not sent in on time).
As an Indiana Ski Council club past president and vice president of the ISC, I felt that the end of the ISC was a bit sudden and had no advance notice. Thus, in talking to the ISC leadership and some members of ISC clubs, I decided to suggest that we have one more ISC racing trip—a “Last Hurrah,” so to speak. I felt that most of our ISC clubs would welcome the last chance to have a fun-filled, exciting club race trip.”
“Thus, we are arranging a trip for the weekend of February 7-9, 2020. It will likely be again at Boyne Highlands where so many of our great past trips have been held. We hope to stay at the Bartley House so that we can have our traditional hot-tub party in the huge hot tub behind the Bartley House. Like past ISC trips, there will be racing for those who want to race, awards, and, best of all, fun for everyone. We hope to include some special features becoming of a final event.”
“We currently have a reservation for 21 rooms, which can hold 42 or more people, depending on how many are in a room. Also, Fort Wayne Ski Club already has some rooms booked for that weekend. We are also negotiating with other ski areas in case Boyne Highlands falls through.”
“Please respond ASAP so that we can make a deposit on the rooms we need, based on your input.”

Closing: We look forward to seeing you soon.
